Simon Weston Launches Extended Toyota Motability Range

12 June 2001

Launch: Midday 15 June 2001 at the Mobility Roadshow

Falklands war veteran Simon Weston OBE joins Toyota at the Mobility Roadshow on Friday 15 June at midday to launch the extended Toyota Motability range. The flexible and practical Previa MPV and versatile Yaris Verso mini-MPV are now both available on the Toyota Motability scheme.

Simon, who is currently driving a Previa, will be on hand to discuss the importance of independent, fulfilling lifestyles and how a positive mental attitude can help disabled people achieve great goals.

The seven or eight seat diesel powered Toyota Previa joins the scheme on 1 July. It features a 2.0-litre D-4D direct injection diesel engine that combines optimum performance with low fuel consumption and low emissions. The 2.4-litre petrol engine version is currently available on the Motability scheme. The Toyota Previa is front-engine/front-wheel drive for car like driving and increased interior space.

The five seat Yaris Verso comes with standard features that other cars in the same price range list as extras including ABS with electronic brake force distribution as well as driver and passenger airbags. Yaris Verso is a versatile and practical choice that will reassure Motability customers with its excellent Euro NCAP crash test safety rating.

Toyota And Thrive Encourage Mobile Lifestyles with Innovative Gardening Website

National charity THRIVE’s innovative website, www.carryongardening.com, designed to make gardening easier and accessible to everyone, is available for visitors to browse on the Toyota stand at the Mobility Roadshow on Friday 15 June. Visitors to the Toyota stand at the mobility show will have the opportunity to learn how everyone, including those with restricted mobility, can fully enjoy the nation’s favourite pastime.

“Toyota’s support for THRIVE’s new website promotes the use of gardening and horticulture to improve the lives of disabled people for greater independence and mobility,” comments Neal Standen, Fleet Business Development Manager, Toyota GB.

“Likewise, the extended Motability range demonstrates Toyota’s commitment to encourage disabled people to make the most of the opportunities available to them in their career, leisure and practical living pursuits.”
