Toyota Presents Stunning FXS Sports Concept Car at 2001 Tokyo Show

16 October 2001

Toyota gets in the mood for F1 with the FXS Sports Concept car, on display to the public at the Tokyo Motor show from 26 October. FXS, short for “Future Experimental Sports” is a two-seater roadster with a gorgeously curvy body.

The FXS has been designed under the theme of “A simple and sexy form with a sense of presence” and has a wide and low slung body that expresses beauty on wheels, contrasting areas of brilliant lustre against those of elusive shade. Its full leather interior is highlighted by touches of chrome and bluish-white illuminated dials set within a deep blue background.

The FXS has a highly rigid, open body and is powered by a 4.3-litre V8 engine mated to a six-speed sequential manual transmission. These features come together with double wishbone suspension all-round to promise driving and handling fun.

Will it be built and if so, when will it be on sale? Toyota isn’t committing – who knows, maybe to celebrate their first win in F1!

The FXS is just one of a total of 17 concept vehicles on display at this year’s show together with 39 production vehicles.
