New Saloon Completes The Successful Corolla Range

The new Corolla saloon will be available from 1 September completing the line up of five models in the Corolla range. The range now offers three and five door hatchbacks, Verso MPV, estate and saloon bodystyles.

The elegant saloon shares the same European design of other Corolla bodystyles which offers compact and robust styling as well as a strong ‘family’ identity with existing Toyota models. The new model will be built at the Sakarya plant in Turkey alongside the estate, which up until this month was built in Japan.

Corolla saloon will be available with two petrol engines; 1.4-litre 97bhp and 1.6-litre 110bhp VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent). These are the two most popular power units that jointly address 80 per cent of the demand of the petrol markets. These engines boast top class characteristics and meet stringent European step 4 emission regulations. The 1.4-litre has a CO2 rating of 159g/km and the 1.6-litre 168g/km.

An economical 2.0-litre 89bhp D-4D diesel engine offering the latest high pressure common rail technology is also available. This engine offers flexibility, excellent economy, low noise levels and low emissions of 153g/km.

The saloon will be offered in two grades, T2 and T3. The T2 is the entry level model which has a high level of standard equipment including driver, passenger and front side airbags, single disc CD player, remote central locking, immobiliser and colour keyed bumpers and door handles. All saloon models will be available with manual gearbox only.

The T3 grade offers air conditioning, colour keyed side mouldings, 15-inch five spoke alloy wheels with locking wheelnuts and front fog lamps. Toyota’s Turn-by Turn satellite navigation system with ETA (Electronic Traffic Avoidance) is available as an option on all saloon models for a fitted price of £1,250.

The saloon shares the same body dimensions as the estate, which is slightly longer than the hatchback models, at 4,385mm (+205mm) due to slightly longer front and rear overhangs. It offers a large capacity 437 litre boot with the additional benefit of split folding rear seats divided 60/40 offering even more luggage space and the versatility to carry larger objects.

All Corolla models have a three year/ 60,000 miles warranty with three year paintwork and 12 year anti-corrosion warranties. Trips to the dealer are few and far between with major services required only every 20,000 miles and a Toyota ‘Health Check’ minor service, taking less than an hour to complete required every 10,000 miles.
