TOYOTA CONCEPTS MAKE UK DEBUT

Toyota gives visitors to the British International Motor Show their first chance to see a series of exciting new design concepts, based on the Aygo, Yaris and RAV4 models. These UK debuts fully express Toyota’s flair for style and innovation.

The special exhibits include the radical door-less, roof-less Aygo for Sport, a wild development of Toyota’s city car that envisions the ideal beach machine, with space for surfboards and a wooden floor, just like the deck of a speedboat. And to emphasise Aygo’s great youth appeal, the bright orange AYGO DJ is a clubber’s dream: it’s a one-off show car that will be pumping out live sounds from its built-in decks and powerful speakers.

By contrast, the muscular Yaris T Sport, with its 17-inch alloy wheels, full body kit and new 1.8-litre engine, gives a strong hint of a new sporting Yaris derivative that will reach showrooms during 2007.

The new RAV4 Sports is another high-performance conversion concept on show, with a D-4D common rail turbodiesel engine tuned to deliver 201bhp, aerodynamic body styling, lowered suspension and huge, 21-inch wheels.

INTELLIGENT PARK ASSIST

Toyota signals its latest technological advances with practical demonstrations of its Intelligent Park Assist system. Designed to make reverse manoeuvres into parking spaces easier and safer than ever, it controls the steering to guide the car neatly into a parallel or side-by-side parking slot, with the driver controlling the brakes. The system is already available for UK motorists, as an optional feature on the Toyota Prius T Spirit.

FORMULA 1

Toyota’s involvement at the pinnacle of world motor sport is represented by the Panasonic Toyota Racing TF106 race car, which this season has already carried Ralf Schumacher to a grand prix podium finish.

NEW AVENSIS LEADS KEY PRODUCT LINE-UP

The recently-launched new Toyota Avensis leads the display of Toyota’s powerful vehicle range, joined by the latest Aygo, Yaris, Prius, Verso, RAV4, Land Cruiser and Land Cruiser Amazon models.
