Toyota out in force at the 2008 National Association of Police Fleet Managers Conference

Toyota will be one of the leading exhibitors at the 2008 National Association of Police Fleet Managers Conference, presenting four models in full squad car livery.

Prius, RAV4, Hilux and Land Cruiser will be demonstrating their worth as emergency service vehicles at the show, which takes place at Cheltenham Racecourse on 2 and 3 September.

The hybrid power Prius, with its ultra-low emissions and official urban fuel economy of 56.5mpg is an exceptionally environmentally efficient proposition for use on the city beat. In slow moving traffic, it can run for a distance on its electric motor alone, cutting tailpipe pollution to zero. And outside the city limits, it has the right amount of speed and space, plus even better mpg.

The Toyota RAV4 achieves the perfect crossover with sharp on-road dynamic performance and a high degree of off-road capability, giving it enormous potential as a police vehicle.

The Hilux pick-up, which last year conquered the Arctic in the Top Gear drive to the Magnetic North Pole, and the thoroughbred Land Cruiser SUV both enjoy world renown for their rugged, “go anywhere” capabilities, making them an ideal choice for those forces and agencies that have to be able to reach remote areas. More than that, both vehicles have space to carry plenty of equipment and can be adapted to operate winches and other specialist features.

Richard Balshaw, General Manager Toyota Fleet, said: “Toyota is perfectly placed to meet the high standards demanded by police and other emergency service customers. Across the board we offer models that are renowned for their durability and reliability, while in our 4×4 line-up, Hilux and Land Cruiser have proved very publicly that they are masters of the toughest environments.

“In Prius we have a unique proposition: a car that is a leader in environmental performance, but powerful and spacious enough to meet the everyday demands of a police fleet.”
