New Prius Plug-in breaks cover
Toyota added a further model to its new Prius line-up, revealing the new generation Prius Plug-in at the New York International Auto Show. The new model can run further and faster on its electric power and achieves the highest fuel efficiency of any plug-in hybrid on the market. Read more here.

Toyota Winglet reaches the street
Toyota is hosting public trials of Winglet, a one-person, two-wheel vehicle, this week on the pavements of Tokyo’s Waterfront City, helping to evaluate its manoeuvrability in pedestrian areas and its potential for use by tourists. Read more here.

2016 Verso majors on safety
The Toyota Verso MPV has been given a significant safety upgrade for 2016 with all models now equipped with Toyota Safety Sense as standard, including a pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Warning and Automatic High Beam headlights. A new Design grade has also been added to the range. Read more here.

Mirai takes “greenest” honour
Mirai has been named with the World Green Car 2016 by a panel of international motoring journalists. The honour was bestowed on Toyota’s hydrogen fuel cell saloon at the New York International Auto Show. Read more here.

New racer revealed
Toyota Gazoo Racing’s new challenger for the World Endurance Championship has been wheeled out in readiness for the build-up to the 2016 season. The Toyota TS050 has a new hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.4-litre turbo V6 engine and a regenerative braking. It also introduces a lithium-ion battery in place of the supercapacitor used by its racing predecessors. Read more here.

2017 GT86 sighted
The New York International Auto Show provided an early glimpse of the 2017 GT86, due for introduction at the end of this year. The powertrain remains unchanged, but the agile coupe gains new styling details, cabin trim and revised suspension. Read more here.

Britain’s biggest Hilux customer
Civil engineering business MJ Church has just taken delivery of its 60th Toyota Hilux in just two years. Read more here.

Russian-built RAV4
Toyota has invested more than £6.7 million in its St Petersburg plant to introduce production of the new RAV4 at the plant. The SUV will be built alongside Camry at the factory from August this year, supporting 800 extra jobs.

Best of the blog: Mirai’s marathon test
The performance, strength and reliability of Mirai have been put to an extreme test, covering 100,000km in around 100 days of driving. The hydrogen fuel cell car recorded 100 per cent reliability, covering all types of roads in different weather conditions. Read more here.
