Geneva Show stars
Toyota had one of its busiest and most significant Geneva Motor Shows in years with world debuts for the all-new Auris, the GR Supra Racing Concept and the new Aygo. The first European appearance of the Toyota Concept-i Series and FINE-Comfort Ride fuel cell electric vehicle provided an insight into the company’s plans to provide mobility for all.

Future power presentation
Just ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, Toyota revealed the next steps in its European powertrain strategy. This includes the roll-out of an additional, new 2.0-litre hybrid electric system for core models and the discontinuation of diesel engines in passenger cars in Europe by 2018. Read more here.

TNGA the key to new Auris’s hot looks
The all-new Auris proved a head-turning star at the Geneva Motor Show with its sharp new design. That styling has been made possible thanks to TNGA – the new modular platform on which the British-built car has been created. Read more here.

 World debut announced for all-new RAV4
The all-new, fifth generation Toyota RAV4 will make its world debut at the 2018 New York International Auto Show on 28 March. Read more here.

Toyota Mirai: meet the Met’s new recruit
The Metropolitan Police Service is recruiting the Toyota Mirai fuel cell electric saloon to its fleet, to serve as both overt and covert response vehicles. The Met will be running 11 of the zero emission cars across the capital, contributing to its efforts to help improve the capital’s air quality. Read more here.

Awards success
It has been a week of double awards success for Toyota in the UK, with the company being named Green Fleet Manufacturer of the Year in the Fleet News Awards and Hilux being given the Working Pick-Up of the Year honour by Professional Pick-Up and 4×4 magazine. Read more here and here.

Toyota connects with car rental giant
Toyota Connected North America, Toyota’s global technology strategy business unit, has agreed a multi-year partnership with leading car rental business Avis Budget Group which will see 10,000 of its vehicles added to the group’s fleet. Avis Budget Group will make use of Toyota’s Mobility Services Platform to improve the efficiency of its rental fleet and provide a more seamless experience for customers.

Toyota’s taxi tactics
Toyota is working with the Japan Taxi Company and other partners to develop a new taxi dispatch system that uses artificial intelligence to predict the level of local demand. The technology is undergoing real-world testing in Tokyo and already proving its worth in increasing sales and improving service quality. Read more here.

Global Hydrogen Council expands with 11 new members
The Hydrogen Council, of which Toyota is an established member, has increased its reach with 11 new members from Asia, North America and Europe. The council includes leading companies from the oil and gas, energy, science and technology and automotive sectors, working together to drive hydrogen innovation and support energy transition.
