Aygo tunes up with JBL Edition

The Toyota Aygo range has been refreshed and boasts an eye-catching new addition in the form of the JBL Edition. This comes with a five-speaker premium audio system and an equally powerful Electro Grey and Mandarin Pop paint finish. Toyota Safety Sense is also now standard across the entire range. Toyota Start-up Awards

The five integrated, inclusive mobility businesses selected for support in the First Toyota Startup Awards have started their four-month business training programme, taking part in a  “bootcamp” mentoring programme led by ISDI Accelerator. They include SociAbility, a UK-based startup working to provide reliable and accurate accessibility information for disabled people. Read more here.

Record-breaking sales

Toyota posted its best June UK new car sales figures on record last month, as showrooms re-opened for business. The strong results showed how increasing numbers of customers are choosing Toyota hybrid models. Read more here.

Scrap old, drive new

Toyota is also supporting new car sales and cleaner, more efficient motoring with the continuation of its vehicle scrappage scheme this summer. This offers savings of up to £4,000 on the price of a new Toyota when customers opt to scrap their existing (eight years old-plus) vehicles. Read more here.

Taxi screen initiative

Toyota has designed and produced a simple and easy-to-fit safety screen that can help prevent coronavirus transmission inside cabs and taxis. The system is the first to be officially approved by Transport for London. Read more here.

Tougher than most: America’s TRD Pro

The TRD Pro name is given to a special breed of Toyota all-wheel drive models for customers in the USA – a market where big trucks are always big news. The name has been used since 2014 for a special series of Toyota models born from the brand’s rich racing and off-road heritage and equipped with all the kit needed for the great outdoors. Toyota Gazoo Racing keeping classics on the road

Toyota Gazoo Racing’s heritage parts operation is launching authentic reproduction components for the 2000GT. The programme will help owners of this rare 1960s coupe keep their cars in peak condition and it follows a similar initiative to remake parts for the A70 and A80 Supra sports cars. Read more here.

Finance offers focus on GR Yaris

Finance offers have been launched to help customers purchase the new GR Yaris. The high-performance hatchback, engineered by Toyota Gazoo Racing and its world rally partner Tommi Mäkinen Racing, is set for launch in October. Read more here.

Investing in space technology

Toyota is part of a new group set up to provide investment capital for start-ups and small businesses working on ground-breaking technologies for space exploration. Its involvement is in addition to its collaboration with Japan’s JAXA space agency on developing a lunar rover vehicle. Read more here.

Blue-light heroes

The Welsh ambulance service has signed up the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid for its nationwide rapid response fleet, placing an order for 51 new vehicles. The British-built Corolla Hybrid  Hatchback is also looking to win favour with the emergency services, with a liveried patrol car undergoing month-long assessment tests with police forces around the UK. Safety design tech for all

To help more manufacturers design and make safer vehicles and equipment, Toyota is giving free access to its THUMS human crash test modelling software. THUMS is able to map the effects of collision impacts on human bodies of different ages and sizes, right down to muscle tissue level. Read more here.
