Toyota At The 2006 CV Show

6 April 2006

The new Toyota Hilux will be centre stage on the Toyota stand following its introduction in October last year. This is the sixth generation of the legendary Hilux with significant increases in exterior dimensions to provide more passenger and load space.

There will be five models on display in both single and double cab derivatives. For the double cabs, all of which are 4×4, there are two top of the range Invincible models, and HL2 and HL3 grade vehicles. There is also a 4×4 HL2 single cab grade. Also featured are a range of accessories currently available for both models. The Hilux is still the only vehicle in its class to have air-conditioning standard across the range. The new Hilux Extra Cab model has a preliminary launch date for January 2007 and will be introduced with the higher output engine (120 bhp & 320 Nm of torque) which will also be added across the entire Hilux range. With the very competitively priced Hilux starting from £12,150 (commercial vehicle on-the-road price) it is worth remembering that the HL2, HL3 and double cab 4×4 models were all introduced at a lower price than the model they replaced with more interior space, larger carrying capacity and greater specification and refinement.

Four Toyota Dyna’s will be displayed, two 300 SWB factory installed alloy dropsides, a 350 MWB factory installed three way tipper and a 350 LWB box van by Chelmer Truck bodies Ltd. With prices for the Dyna range starting at £12,350 (commercial vehicle on the road price) and a wide range of body options available, the Dyna is Toyota’s presence in the 3 to 3.5 tonne market. Dyna benefited in October 2005 from a small price reduction as well as a CD player as standard across the range.

Finally and by no means least there are three Toyota Hiace panel vans: a 280 GS, a 300 GS and a 300 GS-Xtra. Available in standard and long wheel base versions and with two power outputs (88 or 102 bhp) the Hiace is still a very popular choice among the private business fleet.

The Hiace range starts at £12,740 (commercial vehicle on the road) for a 280 standard wheel base. A CD player became standard across the range from 1 January 2006.

All Toyota commercial vehicles have common rail turbo diesel engines and come with highly competitive running costs, with low servicing downtimes such as Hilux with 5.4 hours on 4×2 and 6.2 hours on 4×4. The Hiace is 6 hours and Dyna 9.5 hours, all taken over a 60,000 mile period. On all Toyota commercials, main servicing is only required every 20,000 miles (an oil and filter change only is required at 10,000 miles). Add this to a comprehensive manufacturer’s 3 year/60,000 mile warranty to provide further peace of mind.

Commercial vehicle on the road prices quoted are equivalent to on the road prices but exclude VAT.
