New Toyota Yaris media assets

Mirai heading for China

Two Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell saloons will start demonstration tests in China later this year, supported by a new hydrogen filling station Toyota will open at TMEC, its Chinese R&D centre. The trials will run for three years and will assess quality and durability performance, consumer interest and the quality of local hydrogen fuel. Read more here.

Toyota C-HR gains new Limited Edition

The Toyota C-HR Hybrid crossover has a new top-of-the-range model, the Limited Edition. Just 100 will be available, featuring a specification that includes bi-tone paintwork, matt black 18-inch alloys, leather upholstery, navigation system and premium JBL audio. Read more here.

Green crown for Prius Plug-in

The Toyota Prius Plug-in has been named the 2017 World Green Car, picking up the baton from last year’s winner, the Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell saloon. Read more here.

Raced one, won one

Toyota Gazoo Racing opened their 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship with a hard-fought victory in the 6 Hours of Silverstone. Home hero Anthony Davidson, Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima brought the No8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid home in a dramatic race punctuated by heavy showers. Read more here.

Toyota’s “Rugged Charm” SUV

The New York International Auto Show hosted the unveiling of a new Toyota SUV concept, the FT-4X. Designed in California on a “Rugged Charm” theme, it draws on Toyota’s adventure vehicle heritage to target young urban customers. Read more here. 

Lappi makes it three for WRC

Finnish driver Esapekka Lappi will drive a third Yaris WRC for Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team in May’s Rally de Portugal. Lappi, who is the team’s test driver, will make the first in a series of selected World Rally Championship entries designed to help with the car’s development during its first season of competition. Billion-dollar boost

Toyota is making a record-breaking $1.33 billion-dollar investment in its Kentucky production centre, its largest in the USA , part of a $10 million-dollar programme for its North American operations. The funds will support the start of production of vehicles using the Toyota New Global Architecture.

Best of the Blog: Homecoming for touring car Avensis

The Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Avensis has made a great start to this year’s British Touring Car Championship, with driver Tom Ingram netting two wins in the first two meetings. Tom recently visited Toyota’s Burnaston factory – home of the Avensis – to make a short film about the bloodline that links his race car to the ones driven on the road.   Read and see more here.
