The two-wheel drive 240 price of £10,795 offers excellent value for Hilux. A new addition to the range is a 2WD Extra Cab entry model which has been introduced at only £12,795 offering an increased load bed that is 36% larger than that of the Double Cab.

The new Extra Cab features two doors and rear seats. It is aimed to appeal to both fleet customers and owner operators. The standard specification level includes air conditioning, power front windows, central door locking and single CD player.

The ever popular 4WD 250 Single Cab is also very well priced at £13,995 with its new 102bhp engine. The new 4WD 270 Double Cab EX grade is now priced at £15,495, below the launch price of the November 1997 model. The Double Cab models offer excellent value featuring 102bhp engine, air conditioning, central locking, heated rear window and tilt adjustable steering as standard. Gross Vehicle Weight is increased to 2,780kg.

The Hilux 2002 model year sees the introduction of a new flagship VX model Double Cab, priced from £17,495, with an impressive array of standard features including air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, alloy wheels and over fenders.

In addition all 4WD models now include Automatic Disconnecting Differential (ADD) and a differential lock – the latter is not fitted to a number of competitors.

Improved Specification for 2002

The new Hilux sees the introduction of the state-of-the-art direct injection common rail diesel D-4D engine, providing improved fuel efficiency, longer service intervals and improved torque performance.

This new D-4D engine is step III compliant and delivers an impressive 88bhp on 2WD models and 102bhp on 4WD models.

The new Hilux joins the recently launched all-new Dyna truck and 2002 model year Hiace which are all fitted with the new D-4D diesel engine.
