Toyota’s 75th Anniversary
Tomorrow, 3 November 2012, Toyota reaches the landmark of its 75th anniversary. To help mark the occasion and tell the story of the company’s development to become one of the world’s best-known and most successful businesses, it has created an interactive history timeline on its global website.
The journey from the original Toyota AA through to today’s advanced full hybrid technology has produced some of the world’s most popular and successful cars. At the same time Toyota has developed pioneering principles for business and manufacturing that have been adopted and adapted by businesses and organisations worldwide.
None of this would have been possible without a deal struck in the UK: the Toyoda family’s sale of its patented automatic loom technology to Platt Brothers of Oldham in 1929 helped provide the finances needed to launch the vehicle manufacturing enterprise.
More information and a new selection of heritage images are available on our UK media website covering highlights from the past 75 years, including the cars and the people who have helped shape today’s Toyota Motor Corporation.
