Celica and the Art of Rallying
‘Celica Champions’ is a new fine art print from an original by the renowned motor sport artist Craig Warwick. As a montage of images the picture celebrates the World Rally Championship success of the Toyota Celica which won four driver’s and two manufacturer’s world titles between 1990 and 1994.
The painting is making its public debut as the centrepiece of Toyota’s hospitality lounge at the London Motor Show at Earls Court on Motor Sport days, 27 and 28 October.
Toyota has a 25-year history in the World Rally Championship and the Celica has become synonymous in its various forms with the company’s motor sport endeavours around the world.
Victories in events in places as diverse as the plains of Africa, the frozen lakes of Sweden, the twisty tarmac of Monte Carlo and the mud of the Welsh hills are all represented along with portraits of the three Celica champions: Carlos Sainz, Didier Auriol and Juha Kankkunen.
With Toyota currently leading the 1999 World Rally Championship for Manufacturers, in what looks like the last year of the team’s official participation, the painting is a timely reminder of Toyota’s track record as the manufacturer with most world rally championship victories to its name.
Prints will be available from quality art retailers or direct from Grand Prix Sportique on 01666 503776.
