Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust Prescribes Toyota Hybrids to Support Operations
Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust has taken delivery of 24 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports to support its hospital operations. Since delivery in February, the vehicles have already been kept busy, transporting patients to and from appointments.
The trust chose the Touring Sports body style to gain the advantage of extra load-carrying capacity, and specified the Excel grade in consideration of the comfort of the driver and passengers.
Powered by Toyota’s 1.8-litre self-charging petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, the cars require no plugging-in or additional infrastructure. The trust and other fleet operators who opt for Corolla reap the running cost benefits of combined fuel consumption of between 55 and 61mpg and CO2 emissions from 103g/km, (WLTP figures). With the trust expecting to run its new vehicles for five years, they are likely to cover a combined distance of more than 1.8 million miles – something they should take in their stride, given the well-proven reliability of Toyota’s hybrid technology.
Joanna Dongworth from the Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust said: “We are very pleased with our new Toyota hybrids. Our drivers like them and Toyota did a fantastic job preparing them to our required specification”
The vehicles were procured for the trust through Inchcape Toyota. For more information about Toyota’s market-leading range of hybrids visit www.toyota.co.uk.
