Toyota Motor Europe posts record 1.299 million vehicle sales in 2025

  • Toyota Motor Europe (TME) sales in Europe1 increased by 12,000 units in 2025 
  • Total includes a record 948,042 electrified vehicles, a five percent year-on-year increase accounting for 77 per cent of the total sales mix 
  • Toyota retained its position as the second best-selling passenger car brand in the region for a fifth consecutive year with record sales of 1,143,963 vehicles 
  • Toyota Professional LCV sales grew by 19 per cent year-on-year with 158,720 vehicles and record 6.7 per cent market share 
  • Lexus sales reached 85,075 vehicles with the LBX model achieving 19 per cent year-on-year growth 

Toyota Motor Europe (TME)2 sold 1,299,038 Toyota and Lexus vehicles in 2025, a new record.  

Its mix of electrified vehicles grew to 77 per cent, an increase of five per cent. Within the electrified total, sales of battery electric vehicle were up by 46 per cent, plug-in hybrids by 76 per cent and by three per cent. The Toyota Professional range of light commercial vehicles also achieved a new record of 158,270 vehicles, an increase of 19 per cent year-on-year. 

Till Conrad, TME Executive Vice President – Sales, said: “We are very proud to deliver another strong sales performance in Europe during 2025, the results are a testament to our multi-pathway approach. We have continued to introduce new, exciting models to our line-up among them the Aygo X Hybrid and new RAV4 and zero tailpipe emission3 battery electric Toyota C-HR+ and Urban Cruiser, with more new products coming in 2026.”  

Brands and model performance 

Toyota sold 1,143,963 vehicles between January and December 2025, retaining the position of second best-selling passenger car brand in Europe.  

Yaris Cross was best-selling car in the B-SUV segment with an 11 per cent share.  The brand’s top sellers also included the Yaris and Corolla model ranges, Toyota C-HR, RAV4 and Aygo X.  

Toyota’s overall electrified sales mix stands at 76 per cent, with volume increasing five per cent year-on-year. Sales of battery electric vehicles were up 53 per cent year-on-year at 51,919 vehicles while plug-in hybrid sales increased 91 per cent year-on-year to 71,845, accelerated by strong demand for the new Toyota C-HR plug-in hybrid. 

Toyota Professional continued to grow volume with 158,270 vehicles sold in 2025, an increase of 19 per cent year-on-year. Strong demand for Hilux fuelled growth of 20 per cent with 46,101 vehicles sold. The Proace family of vans with the addition of Proace Max in the heavy duty segment, achieved 19 per cent volume growth year-on-year, with strong demand for its battery electric versions. 

Lexus posted sales of 85,075 for 2025. Lexus has a 100 per cent electrified sales mix in West Europe and 94 per cent across the entire region. Key performers were the compact Lexus LBX Hybrid which increased sales by 19 per cent year-on-year and Lexus NX (available in plug-in hybrid and hybrid variants).

  • Toyota Professional sales: 158,270 (+19% year-on-year) 
  • Electrified mix: West Europe: 78%, East Europe4: 60% – TTL: 76% 

Lexus highlights January – December 2025 

  • Total Lexus sales: 85,075 (-3.5% year-on-year) 
  • Top sellers: LBX (27,447), NX (25,041); UX (9,242) 
  • Total electrified sales: 79,962 (0% year-on-year) 
  • Top electrified: LBX Hybrid (27,447), NX Hybrid/Plug-in Hybrid (24,739), UX Hybrid/BEV (9,242); RX Hybrid/Plug-in Hybrid (8,260)  
  • Electrified mix: West Europe 100%, East Europe* 49%, full region 94% 

European sales excluding Russia. 

Toyota Motor Europe is responsible for all Western, Central and Eastern European countries including Turkey as well as Israel and a number of Central Asian markets (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan). NB TME discontinued sales in Russia in 2022. 

Emissions may be associated with other aspects of the car’s life cycle (including its manufacture, maintenance, end-of-life), from the production of electricity and from day-to-day usage, such as abrasion of tyres and brakes. 

4 East Europe includes Kazakhstan, Caucasus, Ukraine, Turkey and Israel.
