Interview with Toyota Gazoo Racing UK
Team Principal discusses lockdown and a return to racing on Toyota Blog
Toyota Gazoo Racing UK are preparing for the return of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) which starts at Donington Park on 1 and 2 August.
The team, which changed their name earlier this year to race under the Toyota Gazoo Racing motorsport umbrella, is preparing the Speedworks-engineered Toyota Corolla which made its debut last season driven by Tom Ingram. Ingram, now in his seventh season of BTCC racing, achieved four wins and came sixth overall in the 2019 championship.
Ahead of racing weekend, we took the opportunity to find out more from Team Principal, Christian Dick what it has meant for the team during the lockdown period, how they will manage with social distancing and the pressures the condensed calendar will place on them for the remainder of the season.
“I feel at the start of the year we were in a really strong place before the postponement and obviously we will find out in a couple of weeks if I’m right or wrong” said Dick. He added, “Tom is in a great place and feels very comfortable and confident in the car and we have a great bunch of people working for us that are pulling out the stops.”
