Japan trip for UK Toyota Dream Car Art Contest winner
A talented British school girl’s car design will see her and her family headed on an incredible trip to Japan to compete for a global design prize.
Tess Hudson, aged 11, has been selected as a finalist in the World Dream Car Art Contest, Toyota’s annual competition which embraces the creativity of children by challenging them to design their ideal car for the future.
Tess, from Stockport, ranked first in her age category in the UK’s national awards ceremony and has been selected by the judges from among 650,000 entries from 76 different countries around the world to receive an award. Tess will fly to Japan in August with her family for a five day trip, which will include a tour of the Toyota factory in Tokyo, the awards ceremony and a Japanese cultural experience. The results of the world award ceremony will be revealed on 29 August.
Her dream car is called ‘Deep Freeze’ and is designed to lower the temperature of the ocean, preventing the bleaching of coral reefs and the melting of icecaps.
More than 800 entries were submitted from all over the UK this year and children will have another opportunity to take part in next year’s competition. More details about this will be revealed in October.
