Toyota’s Proace Verso and Proace City Verso become all-electric model ranges for 2024, benefiting from technical upgrades that increase their driving range and new equipment features that provide additional safety functions and enhanced comfort and infotainment.
The mid-size and compact people carriers provide flexibility and seating options to suit different customer requirements for both business and family-friendly transport. The new line-up is on sale now, with first deliveries to customers expected from September.
Proace Verso EV
The Proace Verso EV is available for the first time in the UK with a new 75kWh battery which, together with revisions to the electric motor, helps deliver a significant increase in driving range. Official WLTP data indicates up to 214 miles, compared to 143 miles for the previous model which used a 50kWh battery.
A recharge to 80 per cent capacity can be accomplished in around 45 minutes using a 100kW DC fast charging system.
Two body lengths – L1 and L2 – are available, measuring 4,983mm and 5,333mm respectively. The L1 version is offered in Icon and Design trims with eight seats: a single front passenger seat and three individual seats in the second and third rows.
The Icon L2 nine-seat version has three seats in each row – a single seat and a two-seat bench. The Design and Design Premium (due to join the range in September) L2 models have eight seats, while the luxurious Excel model has a seven-seat configuration that offers more spacious second row accommodation with two individual captain’s seats and a lounge table.
Rear seats can be folded or forward-tilted and individual rail-mounted seats can be removed to create more interior space.
Key features of the Icon grade include 10-inch multimedia display with navigation, 10-inch colour multi-information display, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, heated driver’s seat, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rear parking sensors and auto-retracting door mirrors.
Design grade highlights are smart entry and push-button start, fully carpeted floor, automatic air conditioning, wireless phone charger, Skyview panoramic roof, front parking sensors, “Flankguard” side sensors, seatback folding tables and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The premium specification for the Excel model introduces power sliding side doors with kick-sensor, leather upholstery, 90 per cent “limo” rear privacy glass, heated front passenger seat, power driver’s seat adjustment with memory setting, front seat massage function, reversing camera, 180-degree camera and 10-speaker audio system.
Proace City Verso EV
The new 2024 Proace City Verso EV is compact people carrier with clever packaging that provides seating for up to seven. All versions are powered by a 50kWh battery that gives a driving range of up to 213 miles on a full charge (WLTP data). Using a fast-charging system, the battery can be replenished to 80 per cent in 30 minutes; all versions have an 11kW on-board charger for home charging.
As with the larger Proace Verso, there are two body lengths to the choose from: L1 measuring 4,401mm and L2 at 4,751mm.
There are two equipment grades, Icon and Design. The Icon equipment specification includes a 10-inch multimedia display, navigation system, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, removable third row seats, automatic headlights, and an electronic parking brake. Design grade adds 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, smart entry, automatic windscreen wipers, retracting door mirrors, body-colour bumpers, side mouldings and door handles, gloss black door mirror casings, a reversing camera and an energy-saving heat pump for the automatic air conditioning system.
