The all-new Toyota Urban Cruiser: UK sales launch

The all-new Urban Cruiser opens a programme of new battery electric model introductions from Toyota, on sale from 1 December. The compact electric SUV further strengthens Toyota’s presence in the highly competitive B-SUV market, where the company’s multipath technology approach also offers the full hybrid Yaris Cross model.

On-the-road prices for Urban Cruiser start from £29,995; customer deliveries will commence in the first quarter of 2026.

The model is an authentic SUV with strong styling cues, led by Toyota’s contemporary signature hammerhead frontal design, and a commanding driving position. The packaging fully exploits the car’s long wheelbase to provide an open and spacious interior, with an ingenious sliding rear seat system giving rear passengers space that rivals larger models.

Two battery options – with 49 and 61kWh capacities – give customers choice to suit their driving needs and their budget. The 49kWh unit featured in the entry level Icon model has an output of 106kW and a range (WLTP combined) of up to 213 miles. The 61kWh battery, fitted as standard in the Design and Excel versions, delivers 128kW and a range of up to 264 miles. A DC (67kW) charge should take around 45 minutes.

Grades and equipment highlights

The Icon grade equips the Urban Cruiser with 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10.1-inch multimedia display, 10.25-inch digital river’s combimeter, the sliding rear seat system and an air conditioning unit with an energy-saving heat pump. The safety and driving assistance features include a Blind Spot Monitor, rear-view camera, Pre-Collision System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Trace Assist and Road Sign Assist.

Moving up to Design grade, the specification extended to heated front seats and steering wheel, auto-retracting heated door mirrors and a windscreen wiper de-icer, together with the higher capacity battery.

At the top of the range the Excel version provides 19-inch alloys, a premium JBL sound system, wireless smartphone charger, a fixed glass sunroof with manual shade, LED headlights with an Adaptive High-beam System, a Panoramic View Monitor and upholstery featuring a combination of fabric and high-quality synthetic leather. Customers can specify a metallic or premium bi-tone paint finish as an option.
