Toyota today announces prices for the new bZ4X, a model that benefits from significant technical upgrades, increased customer choice, new equipment features, refreshed design and enhanced dynamic performance and ride comfort. Ordering will open on 3 November and customer vehicle deliveries will commence in January.
Three years on from its introduction as the first in a new generation of purpose-designed Toyota battery electric SUVs, the bZ4X has undergone comprehensive revision of its BEV powertrain.
The line-up now offers a choice of two batteries – 57.7 and 73.1 kWh – to suit different customer performance and budget priorities. Combined with new eAxles these provide greater power with higher efficiency, extending the car’s driving range to up to 352 miles*. A new battery pre-conditioning function and the provision of a 22 kW on-board AC charger (Excel grade) contribute to improved battery charging times.
A new frontal treatment gives the bZ4X a more impactful look, introducing a new light bar linking slimline headlight units and tracing the line of the signature Toyota hammerhead shape. New alloy wheels designs and wheel arches with a glossy piano black finish have also been introduced.
In the cabin there is a new, slimline dashboard extending the full width of the cabin. This has a new 14-inch multimedia screen (standard on all version) as its central feature, above a new “digital island” centre console that incorporates twin wireless smartphone chargers.
The open, spacious feel of the cabin is enhanced with an enlarged, one-piece panoramic roof option.
The suspension has been tuned for increased ride comfort and improved dynamic handling. Measures have also been introduced to further reduce noise and vibration for an even more peaceful cabin environment.
Model range and outline equipment specifications
Entry point to the new bZ4X range is Icon grade. New equipment features include two wireless smartphone chargers in the centre console, 14-inch multimedia display, ambient cabin lighting and glossy piano black wheel arches. Other specification details include front-wheel drive, heated front seats and steering wheel, a power back door and a Blind Spot Monitor.
Design grade introduces the more powerful 73.1 kWh battery. This is also a front-wheel drive model, building on the Icon specification with the addition of a Panoramic View Monitor, puddle lights and a windscreen de-icer.
At the top of the range, Excel grade can be specified with front or all-wheel drive. Both versions are equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, heated, ventilated and power adjustable front seats, heated rear seats, a digital rear-view mirror and full synthetic leather seat upholstery. A 22kW on-board charger enables faster AC charging.
