  • New Verso compact MPV further extends Toyota’s C-segment product offensive

Toyota will use the Paris motor show to take the wraps off a comprehensively renewed range of models for the European family/compact car market with the world-first presentation of the new Auris hatchback, Auris Tourer and Verso people carrier.

In addition to this trio of world debuts, it will also reveal a new range of TRD Performance Line accessories for GT86 that it will be offering in the UK and Europe for the first time.

New Auris
New Auris demonstrates Toyota’s determination to create cars that are more appealing and more rewarding to drive.

Built exclusively in Britain at Toyota’s Burnaston factory, it has a more individual design, a higher quality interior, better driving dynamics and increased efficiency across its powertrain line-up.

It will further reinforce Toyota’s commitment to bring its market-leading full hybrid technology to the widest possible market: right from day one of sales it will be available with petrol, diesel and full hybrid power. Moreover, Toyota expects a roughly equal one-third split in the European sales mix for each engine type, reflecting how it has successfully moved hybrid to the mainstream. In the UK, the sales mix for hybrid is expected to be even higher, approaching 40 per cent.

The revised Hybrid Synergy Drive system in new Auris Hybrid will deliver class-leading efficiency, with power to CO2 emissions ratio of more than 1.5bhp for each g/km.

New Auris Tourer
Toyota adds an estate car body style to the Auris range for the first time with the introduction of the new Auris Tourer. It will be the first model in its class to offer the choice of full hybrid power, as well as petrol and diesel engines, and it will give Toyota representation in part of the market that currently accounts for around 25 per cent of core European compact/C-segment car sales

The Tourer’s styling follows similar cues to its hatchback sister model, but without compromising loadspace.

New Verso
The third element in Toyota’s new C-segment strategy is new Verso, a significantly revised version of the compact people carrier that showcases the company’s European design and engineering capabilities. New Verso adopts Toyota’s new design language, displaying a clear family identity. The interior has been upgraded too, and among the powertrains the 2.0 D-4D diesel engine has been re-engineered to give stronger performance with lower CO2 emissions. Verso’s driving dynamics and NVH levels have also been improved.

2013 Yaris Trend
Paris marks the first appearance of the 2013 Yaris Trend, a further development of the sharper-styled supermini that was recently added to the UK range. The latest development of Yaris, it presents even more distinctive interior design, finishes, textures and colours, aimed at younger, style-conscious customers.

TRD Performance Line accessories
Toyota is making a range of TRD (Toyota Racing Development) aerodynamic and performance parts available for GT86. It is the first time TRD parts are being officially offered in Europe and they will be showcased in Paris on the new Toyota sports coupe. The range includes exterior and interior accessories and mechanical parts, sold individually rather than being grouped into packs.

GT86 racing simulator
Visitors to the Toyota stand at the Paris motor show will be able to enjoy some of the excitement of track driving in the GT86 racing simulator. Designed to perform just like an actual car on a race circuit, it equips a GT86 with advanced computer simulation technology.

The driver steers, brakes and makes gear changes using the standard controls, and the simulator uses a motion system to respond to driver inputs and create a realistic driving experience. The effect is heightened by the images on a full HD monitor that replaces the windscreen, and a Lucas Arts THX surround system creating an authentic racetrack soundscape.

Toyota press conference
Toyota will host a press conference on stand 114, hall 4, at 8.30am on September 27. Also on display will be the Toyota Racing TS030 Hybrid WEC race car, FCV-R fuel cell vehicle, Prius Plug-in and Yaris Hybrid.
