Toyota Confirms UK Sales and Deliveries Continue
Statement by Miguel Fonseca, Managing Director Toyota GB PLC
Media reports have called into question whether Toyota is halting sales and deliveries of its vehicles in the UK. Toyota GB PLC managing director Miguel Fonseca today confirms that Toyota’s full new car model range remains on sale, with no risk of any vehicles affected by the accelerator pedal safety recall being delivered to customers.
“Toyota deeply regrets the concern caused to its customers by the safety recall. We want to do everything possible to reassure people about that the quality and safety of the cars they own or are seeking to buy.
“Our full range of Toyota cars and light commercial vehicles remain on sale and no cars affected by the safety recall will be delivered to new customers.
“Safety has been and will remain our top priority. Our recall strategy for owners of affected vehicles is now under way and, with the support of the DVLA, we will begin contacting customers whose cars are affected as soon as possible to organise the necessary work.
“Among the several million Toyota vehicles sold across Europe in the past five years there has been a small number of reported cases of drivers experiencing a problem with a sticking accelerator pedal. There have been no reports of any accidents or injuries occurring as a result of this problem in Europe, or the UK.
“If anyone has any concerns, they should call Toyota GB Customer Relations on 0800 1388 744. Information can also be found on the dedicated recall information page on the Toyota website at http://www.toyota.co.uk/recall.”
