Toyota Fashions New Aygo Line-Up With x-trend
Toyota’s hugely popular Aygo city car makes a big style statement with a new x-trend version to launch its 2019 line-up.
Positioned at the heart of the range and expected to be the most popular model in the range, the x-trend majors on colourful styling accents and useful tech.
The standard spec’ includes 15-inch alloy wheels with a machined finish, rear privacy glass, front fog lights and a red decal pack, adding eye-catching detailing to the door mirrors, side sills and the lower section of the front and rear bumpers. Opt for Red Pop, Cyan Splash or Silver Splash for the paint finish and the red decals are changed to black.
The equipment specification includes easy smartphone integration with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, plus automatic air conditioning and automatic headlights. Customers can also opt to have an electric, full-length retractable Funroof and the added protection of Toyota Safety Sense, with Pre-collision System with autonomous emergency braking and Lane Departure Alert.
The new x-trend is powered by Aygo’s proven 71bhp three-cylinder, 1.0-litre petrol engine with a choice of five-speed manual or x-shift automated manual transmission. True to Aygo’s tradition, ownership costs are modest, supported by combined cycle fuel consumption from 53.30 to 57.29mpg, 93g/km CO2 emissions (with manual transmission) and insurance group ratings in the single figures. Peace of mind comes as standard, too, with Toyota’s five-year/100,000-mile new car warranty.
The x-trend is on sale now. On-the-road prices are £12,710 for the version with manual transmission and £13,410 with x-shift; specifying Toyota Safety Sense adds £375 to the price.
The 2019 Toyota Aygo range opens with the x model (three or five doors, LED rear lights and daytime running lights, power front windows, audio system with USB/Aux-in). Next up is the x-play (five-door only, larger (15-inch) wheels, air conditioning, Bluetooth, DAB, x-touch multimedia system, reversing camera and optional navigation and Toyota Safety Sense). The new x-trend is positioned between x-play and the x-cite model. The x-cite specification includes 15-inch black alloys, Magenta Fizz bi-tone paint finish with toning interior details, smartphone integration, front fog lights, automatic air conditioning, automatic headlights and rear privacy glass, with Toyota Safety Sense optional. The Aygo x-clusiv remains at the top of the range (adding part-leather upholstery, smart entry, bi-tone paint finish and Toyota Safety Sense).
