Toyota Gazoo Racing launches GR Supra GT EVO2 for the 2025 racing season

23 August 2024

Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) is now accepting orders for the new GR Supra GT4 EVO2. Vast feedback from racing teams and drivers around the world has been leveraged to produce an evolution of the GT car that delivers higher performance, reliability and operability.

Since the launch of the GR Supra GT4 in 2020, more than 120 cars have been sold1. The efforts of teams and drivers have seen it win GT4-series races and international events in 11 countries worldwide, gaining more than 500 podium finishes and becoming the class champion in Asia, the USA and Europe2.

An updated GR Supra GT4 EVO produced for the 2023 season featured improved braking, handling and engine performance, making the car easier to handle for drivers of various skill levels. Beyond that update, efforts have continued to make it an ever-better machine. TGR travelled to race tracks around the world to obtain direct feedback from teams and drivers in the extreme conditions of racing.

Advancing its “driver-first car-making” approach it has used these insights to make further improvements in the GR Supra GT EVO2. The car is expected to make its race debut at the start of the 2025 season at the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, held in conjunction with 24 Hours of Daytona in the USA.

Specific changes include meticulous re-tuning of the ABS maps. This involved the car being driven by different drivers on circuits in Japan and Europe to identify optimal braking and cornering, based on tyre type and wear and track condition. Downshifting time has been reduced with more precise rev-matching, achieved with a software update. This gives enhanced deceleration control under braking and faster cornering speeds. The cooling performance of the engine, brakes and drivetrain has been optimised, together with cockpit temperatures, making the car easier to drive for professional and amateur drivers alike.

European GT4 sales and customer support will be handled by Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe.
