Toyota Hilux Find Favour At E.ON
E.ON, one of the UK’s leading energy companies has equipped its boiler repair and maintenance technicians with four wheel drive Toyota Hilux Double Cab pick-ups to reach customers who are left without heating and hot water this winter.
The 12 Toyota Hilux were supplied by Toyota World in Birmingham under under a fleet partnership agreement for three years. They were delivered to E.ON’s engineers at Toyota’s Manufacturing plant in Derby, and will be used across the country.
John Neilson, E.ON’s Technician Manager said, “Being left without heating if your boiler fails this winter can be distressing and potentially life threatning for our vunerable customers. Being equipped with the right vehicles to reach these customers no matter what the winter throws at us is vitally important.”
Lorna McAtear, Fleet Commercial Vehicle Manager at E.ON, said: “The most important issue for E.ON was that we sourced vehicles that had proved themselves in tough terrains and the harshest of winter weather balanced with offering the lowest possible carbon emissions. We think the Toyota Hilux fits the bill to allow us to reach our customers in need.”
The legendary Toyota Hilux is availabe in Single, Extra and Double Cab body styles. Powered by 2.5 or 3.0-litre D-4D turbo diesel engines, Hilux has proved its capabilities in some of the toughest terrains on the planet including being the first car to reach both the magnetic North Pole and South Poles.
The 4WD system fitted to Hilux allows the driver to shift from four to two-wheel drive with no speed restriction and from two to four-wheel drive at speeds up to 50mph. Also fitted is Toyota’s Automatic Disconnecting Differential (ADD). This automatically engages or disengages the front axle drivetrain with the shift from four to two-wheel drive, contributing to fuel efficiency and lower noise levels in 2WD mode.
