Toyota honoured with Manufacturer of the Year title in the 2024 TopGear.com Awards
- Toyota recognised for “excitement and ambition” across its model range
- The all-new Land Cruiser, Prius and GR Yaris highlighted as examples of Toyota’s commitment to making highly desirable cars
- Toyota also distinguished by its deep involvement in motorsport as a brand that “loves to race”
Toyota has been honoured as the Manufacturer of the Year in the 2024 TopGear.com Awards.
The leading automotive website and magazine recognised Toyota for the “excitement and ambition” it brings to its products while being one of the world’s largest car makers, and for its wide-ranging commitment to motor sport.
Ollie Marriage, TopGear.com’s Head of Car Testing, said: “This award isn’t about size or scale, it’s about excitement and ambition. That’s relatively easy to achieve in a single car, much more difficult to achieve across a range.”
He drew a contrast with other leading car brands who he says are “consolidating into a sludgey centre, so risk averse they’re building nothing but a series of crossovers”.
The all-new Land Cruiser will “never, ever let you down”; Prius is “smart, daring, desirable”; and GR Yaris “remains one of the most relevant and exciting road cars around”. In worldwide motorsport, he says Toyota has “quietly but consistently gone the extra mile”.
Stuart Sanders, Toyota (GB) Director, Communications and Product, said: “At heart, Toyota values not just mobility for all, but also the pure pleasure that motoring can bring. That spirit informs a model range that we are proud to see honoured with this prestigious award from TopGear.com.
“As we progress with our multi-path strategy towards carbon neutrality with new electrified products, our customers can be assured that we will continue to create cars that are great to look at and even better to drive. Where motorsport is concerned, it is an essential source of skills and intelligence to help us make ever-better cars for the road, while building a loyal and growing Toyota fan based around the world.”
