Toyota Motor Europe posts a record first half-year sales
- Toyota Motor Europe (TME) vehicle sales up nine per cent year-on-year in the first half of 2024, an all-time high for the period (1)
- TME’s total electrified sales mix at almost three quarters (74 per cent) of vehicles sold in Europe
- Toyota remains No2 best-selling passenger car brand in Europe with sales growth of more than nine per cent
- Lexus is one of the region’s fastest growing premium brands as sales increase by 21 per cent year-on-year
- Toyota Professional sales grew 10 per cent year-on-year with electrified options on all models
Toyota Motor Europe (2) (TME) sold 626,572 Toyota and Lexus vehicles in the first six months of 2024, an increase of nine per cent on its 2023 performance during the same period.
The Toyota brand maintained its position as the second best-selling passenger car brand with sales growth of nine per cent, and Lexus maintained its position as one of Europe’s fastest growing premium brands with sales growth of 21 per cent. Toyota Professional, TME’s light commercial vehicle brand, also increased sales by 10 per cent year-on-year.
Sales of electrified vehicles increased with full-electric sales up 34 per cent, plug-in hybrids up 38 per cent and hybrids up 11 per cent. The total electrified sales mix has now reached almost three quarters – 74 per cent of all Toyota and Lexus new vehicles sold in Europe.
Matt Harrison, TME Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are pleased with a record first half-year sales performance, and we continue to outperform the market. We’ve experienced buoyant demand across our electrified vehicle models for hybrids, plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles. We’ve also injected newness with the introduction of the all-new Lexus LBX and new Toyota C-HR plug-in hybrid which have both been well received. This strong demand for our products is testament to our multi-path strategy with a line-up that caters to the diversity of our European customers’ needs.”
