New Prius prices and equipment details….
Order books are open for the new Toyota Prius, with the UK range priced from £23,295. Due on the road here from next March, the all-new model promises a big leap forward in efficiency and driving dynamics. Read more here.
…. ditto the new RAV4 Hybrid
Details of the 2016 RAV4 range, including the first RAV4 Hybrid, have been published and orders are being taken ahead of customer deliveries from the end of this year. As well as the new hybrid, the line-up includes new 2.0-litre D-4D diesel and improved 2.0-litre Valvematic petrol engine options. Read more here.
Toyota launches new Artificial Intelligence business
Toyota is investing $1 billion in a new R&D company that will look at opportunities in Artificial Intelligence and robotics. The new company, Toyota Research Inc, will have bases in Silicon Valley and Massachusetts. Read more here.
Toyota supports Mission Motorsport at the Race of Remembrance
Toyota provided Shorsec Racing with two competition GT86 coupes for the Race of Remembrance last weekend. The event was organised by Mission Motorsport, which provides training and rehabilitation for service veterans. Toyota produced a film profiling the event and Mission Motorsports’ work and you can read more about the race here.
Toyota turns Las Vegas into Toytown
A life-size Tonka Toy version of the Toyota 4Runner was one of leading customised Toyota exhibits on display at the SEMA specialist equipment and aftermarket show in Las Vegas. A Back to the Future-themed Mirai was also turning heads, together with a TRD-makeover for Toyota’s best-selling American models. Read more here.
Toyota fork-lifts design awards
Toyota Material Handling has been celebrating double success for a new, European-designed electric pallet truck. The model has picked up both the Japanese Good Design Award and the German Design Award. Read more here.
Mirai a winner in Austria
The Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell saloon isn’t actually on sale in Austria, but that hasn’t prevented ARBÖ, the national automobile club, from honouring it with an award in recognition of its environmental technology. Read more here.
