Toyota welcomes Australian sporting hero Glenn McGrath
Toyota, a sponsor of England cricket, gave a warm welcome to the former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath this week when he visited our Surrey headquarters to help raise funds for Breast Cancer Care. It is a cause close to Glenn’s heart, as co-founder and president of the McGrath Foundation, a charity supporting women with breast cancer across Australia. Hundreds of pounds were raised during a lunchtime photo and autograph signing session.
Sporting rivalry moves from the wicket to the race track
Arch cricketing rivals Michael Vaughan and Glenn McGrath have gone head to head in a new challenge hosted by Toyota. Driving GT86 coupes, they fought for honour on a specially designed course at Brands Hatch, with the winner claiming a new trophy – The Dust. See the film of their exploits here.
Hold on tight, next stop zero emissions
Toyota is working with commercial vehicle manufacturer Hino on a new generation of zero-emissions fuel cell buses. The new vehicles begin field tests in Tokyo this week as the next stage in the route to market. Read more here.
Robot help in the home for elderly and disabled people
Toyota is pushing ahead with robot technology that can help elderly and disabled people enjoy independent living in their own homes. It has designed a new prototype Human Support Robot that can perform useful tasks around the house and recruited partners in a new developer community to help make it widely available. Toyota awards to green technology pioneers
New academic research into new green technologies has been given a boost with first fellowship appointments and cash awards in a project partnership between Toyota and the Electrochemical Society. More than 100 applications were received in the ECS Toyota Young Investigator Fellowship’s inaugural selection process.
