New Supra in action
Crowds at the Goodwood Festival of Speed were treated to the first public running of the new Supra prototype, the sports car which will bring Toyota’s most evocative model name back to the marketplace. The car, wearing a disguise livery in Toyota Gazoo Racing colours, was also introduced to UK Supra enthusiasts at a special event with the car’s Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada. Read more here and here.
Discover the meaning of “connected”
“Connected” cars are key to the future of safe and efficient mobility, but understanding the technologies, how they work and the potential they offer can be confusing. Toyota recently hosted a Connected Day to shed more light on what it is doing in this fast-moving area, at the same time introducing its new Crown and Corolla Sport models. Toyota hybrids pass the Which? test with flying colours
Leading consumer advice publication Which? has pitted more than 100 hybrid, diesel and petrol cars against each other to find out which delivers the best mpg in real-world testing. The results show that Toyota hybrids are the best all-rounders for both town and motorway driving, potentially saving motorists hundreds of pounds on their annual fuel bill. Read more here.
Toyota vehicles feed data to live on-line maps
Traffic data collected from navigation systems in Toyota vehicles is being used for new online maps that show traffic conditions in real time. Users can check conditions across Japan for the past one, three, six or 24 hours to help plan their journeys efficiently. Read more here.
Toyota to deploy its latest mobility technologies at Tokyo 2020
With two years to go until the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, Toyota has outlined the mobility concept that will become the basis for its activities at the games, focusing on mobility for all, sustainability and efficient transport for staff, media and athletes. Read more here.

Kiichiro Toyoda, the visionary businessman who established Toyota vehicle manufacturing, has been induced into the Automotive Hall of Fame in Detroit. Read more here.
Toyota offers funding for robotics innovations
Entrepreneurs around the world are being invited to bid for up to $2 million funding on offer from the venture capital firm Toyota AI Ventures and the Toyota Research Institute. The money is available to support start-ups in the field of mobile manipulation functions for assist robots that can help people around the home. Read more here.
Hydrogen power on the high seas
Having brought the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell electric saloon to the road in the form of Mirai, Toyota is in the forefront of exploring how hydrogen can be harnessed in different ways to help build a future zero emission society. Its ambitions are reflected in Toyota Motor Europe’s sponsorship of Energy Observer, the world’s first hydrogen-powered ship, on its global voyage. Read more here.
