Toyota has reached an agreement with the global technology platform Uber to explore how they can co-operate on new ridesharing projects, in line with Toyota’s mission to develop safer and more efficient and convenient mobility. Read more here

The rate of Toyota’s worldwide hybrid sales continues to accelerate with the cumulative total passing the nine million mark this week, just nine months on from the eight million milestone. Read more here
G7 showcase for automated driving
Toyota provided delegates to this week’s G7 summit in Japan with the chance to test drive with its new Urban Teammate automated driving technology. A successor to the Highway Teammate, this system is designed to enable unassisted automated driving on ordinary roads. Read more here
Verso victorious
Toyota’s Verso 1.6 D-4D has been named the Best Real World MPG Performer in the 2016 honestjohn.co.uk awards. The honour was based on the real world fuel economy reports of thousands of users of the popular consumer website. Read more here
Meet the iBot
Toyota Motor North America and DEKA Research and Development are working together on a new motorised wheelchair – the iBot – that can “walk” up and down stairs. Read more here
