World Car nominations for new Prius and Mirai
The new Toyota Prius and the Mirai hydrogen fuel cell saloon have both been listed as finalists in categories of the World Car awards. New Prius is in contention for the principal World Car of the Year title and also figures with Mirai among the World Green Car finalists. The top-three finalists will be announced at the Geneva motor show in March and the winners will be named at the New York International Auto Show in April.
Toyota 2015 production and sales
Toyota has published its results for the 2015 calendar year, revealing that global sales and production remained near level with 2014’s performance. Read more here.
Sumo safety kit
Seven sumo wrestlers have been let loose in Los Angeles, all in the pursuit of vehicle safety. The traditional heavyweight sportsmen feature in a new advert filmed in LA, interpreting the benefits of Toyota Safety Sense. Read and see more here.
Toyota C-HR ready to race
Toyota’s forthcoming crossover model will hit the racetrack before it reaches the public roads. Toyota Gazoo Racing is entering a race-prepped version of the Toyota C-HR for a 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. Read more here.
Toyota U2 concept revealed
Toyota’s North American design studio has produced a new urban van concept, called the U2. The model will make its global debut at the 2016 Canadian International Auto Show on 12 February. Read more here.
Major fleet deal for Aygo
National estate agency group Spicerhaart has signed up to add 200 new Toyota Aygo to its fleet over the next two years. Read more here.
Top tech award for Mirai
The Toyota Mirai has been honoured in the What Car? awards. The hydrogen fuel cell saloon, launched in the UK last autumn, was joint winner of the Technology Award. Read more here.
