Toyota C-HR primed for production
The production-ready Toyota C-HR crossover made its debut at the Paris motor show, displaying stand-out styling that’s faithful to Toyota’s original concept designs for the vehicle. Both full hybrid and petrol powertrains will be available – the latter with the option of all-wheel drive – when the new model reaches the road later this year. Read more here.

Prius Plug-in pushing the boundaries
The all-new Prius Plug-in marks significant advances in the efficiency of Toyota’s plug-in hybrid technology, with provisional data released at the Paris motor show indicating an all-electric, emissions-free driving range of more than 30 miles, at speeds up to more than 80mph. Factor that performance into official testing methodology and the new model can achieve a combined cycle CO2 level of just 22g/km. Read more here.

Toyota will have a strong presence at next week’s ITS World Congress in Melbourne, demonstrating its latest advances in safety through the use of intelligent transportation system technologies, helping it progress towards its goal of zero traffic fatalities. Read more here.

UK eco-research funding
Vital research by scientists at Kew into threatened plant species is benefiting from Toyota funding. The team at the Royal Botanic Gardens’ new Plant Assessment Unit are being supported through Toyota’s five-year partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Microsoft on board for Toyota rally programme
Toyota has reached an agreement with Microsoft to collaborate in the 2017 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) series. As part of the agreement, Microsoft will serve as a “technology partner” for the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRC rally team. Read more here.

Kirobo Mini – your new robot friend
Small enough to sit in the palm of your hand yet clever enough to share a conversation, Toyota’s characterful Kirobo Mini companion robot is going on. Marketed as a “communication partner,” it will retail for around £300 – exclusively in Japan. Read more here.

Toyota can make your garden grow…
A new liquid livestock manure composting product has been developed by Toyota Motor Corporation and the contact lens manufacturer Menicon. The latest in a series of composting systems they have produced, it has just gone on sale through the Toyota Roof Garden subsidiary. Read more here.

Building the world’s first Net Zero Energy car retailer
A new Toyota retailer in Corvallis, Oregon, is on course to become the world’s first Net Zero Energy auto dealership. Data checks during the next 14 months will determine whether the building will succeed in its mission to generate more energy than it uses. As well as sourcing power from a solar array, it will tap geothermal sources for heating and cooling and harvest rainwater.  Read more here.

5 x 106 = pre-owned sales record
Toyota has reached a new industry record sales level for certified pre-owned vehicle sales, in the USA with five million being delivered in the 20 years since the scheme was launched. Read more here.
