New Yaris prices and specs
UK prices and specifications for the new Toyota Yaris have been announced. There are six grades to choose from – including new Bi-Tone and Icon Tech – plus a new 1.5 VVT-i petrol engine option. The range is launched with a customer saving available on the new Active entry-level models. Read more here.
Show debut for Toyota robotics and mobility
Toyota is taking part in the international CeBIT trade fair for the first time, joining Toyota group companies Aisin and Denso in a showcase for their latest innovations in personal mobility and robotics technology. Exhibits at next week’s event in Hannover, Germany, include the Toyota i-ROAD and Ha:mo integrated public transport management system that have been introduced in a pilot project in Strasbourg. Toyota turns up the heat on Yaris
The Yaris GRMN, a forthcoming new performance version of Toyota’s top-selling supermini, broke cover at the Geneva motor show. Engineered with direct input from Toyota Gazoo Racing experts, the new model will be unique in the hot-hatch market in being powered by a supercharged engine – a 1.8-litre unit that’s expected to deliver more than 205bhp. TRI presents its first autonomous test vehicle
TRI – Toyota Research Inc – has presented its first autonomous test vehicle in the USA. The new advanced safety research vehicle will be used to explore a wide range of different driving capabilities and test the ability of machine vision and learning to provide safe and efficient autonomous operation. Toyota C-HR supreme in safety testing
The new Toyota C-HR has gained five stars in independent safety testing. Euro NCAP’s stringent assessment found crash protection, pedestrian safety and the operation of the car’s Toyota Safety Sense systems all merited its top rating. Read more here.
Mirai powering Aberdeen’s hydrogen future
A new fleet of Toyota Mirai fuel cell cars is heading for Aberdeen, helping the city builds its status as a hub for hydrogen power. The Mirai are being leased to local organisations and the Co-wheels Car Club through the Government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles, with support from Transport Scotland. Read more here.
Dream car awards
Inspired young artists have been rewarded for the visions of the transport of the future in Toyota’s annual Dream Car Art competition. The winners in the UK round of the international contest have been presented with their prizes and are in with a chance of progressing to the world finals in Japan. Read more here.
