Hot hybrid sportscar concept
The wraps came off the GR Super Sports Concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon, a road-going machine that looks every inch a Le Mans sportscar. Toyota Gazoo Racing has drawn directly on its experience in the FIA World Endurance Championship to create the concept, which shares many its components with the TS050 Hybrid WEC race car – including a racing hybrid powertrain. Land Cruiser looks sharper for 2018
The 2018 Land Cruiser has just entered UK showrooms, sporting new styling features inside and out, plus a revised line-up that introduces a new Utility grade as the entry point to the range. Equipment specifications have been revised, but the new Land Cruiser retains all of its prodigious go-anywhere capabilities, developed through more than 65 years of off-road excellence. Sales up, emissions down
Toyota outperformed the UK new market in terms of both sales figures (up) and average carbon emissions (down) last year – both achievements supported by the increasing popularity of its growing range of petrol-electric hybrid models. Read more here and here.
Across Europe as a whole, the UK contributed to pushing Toyota’s combined new vehicle sales above the one million mark in 2017, with hybrids making up 40 per cent of the total. Read more here.
Toyota paints a picture of future mobility with the e-Palette
Toyota is working in a new alliance with global businesses including Amazon, Pizza Hut and Mazda to develop new, connected mobility solutions and a flexible, purpose-built vehicle. The e-Palette Alliance and e-Palette concept vehicle have been revealed to the public at CES, the global technology showcase, by Toyota President Akio Toyoda. Read more here.
Yaris WRC revised for 2018 rally campaign
Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team have used the experience gained in its debut World Rally Championship season to tweak the Yaris WRC ready for the 2018 campaign. The revised car was revealed at the Autosport International show prior to competing for the first time next week at Rallye Monte-Carlo. Read more here.
Drag queens give Aygo a regal make-over
Go Your Own Way is the new message for the Toyota Aygo, its spirit captured in a campaign that has given four top drag queens the chance to design their own photoshoots to evoke the colour, character and style of city car. Read more here.
Toyota global sales and production targets
Toyota is seeking to achieve a one per cent increase in its global sales in 2018, to approximately 10,495,000 units from all its brands, including commercial vehicles. In the same period, it expects its worldwide production volume to drop by one per cent. Read more here.
