World debut for i-TRIL at Geneva
The Geneva motor show will mark the first appearance of Toyota’s new i-TRIL concept, a new urban, electric-powered three seater designed for city motoring. Like the i-ROAD, its makes use of Toyota’s Active Lean technology, ensuring there’s a big element of driving fun as well as convenience. The new, revised Yaris will also be on display, alongside a full line-up of Toyota Gazoo Racing machinery. Read more here.
Fuel cell bus enters service
Toyota has delivered its first hydrogen fuel cell bus to Tokyo’s city transport authority. The new vehicle will go into service on the Toei route in March and is the first of more than 100 new zero-emission buses that will be put on the road ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Toyota’s 10 million hybrids
The rate of Toyota’s worldwide hybrid sales continues to accelerate, with numbers reaching 10 million since the original Prius went on sale in Japan in 1997. Here in the UK, the total has broken through the quarter-million mark. Read more here.
Proace carries off award
The new Toyota Proace has collected a second award as the market’s best medium-duty van, this time from Fleet World. Previously Proace was named What Van’s LCV of the Year. Read more here.
Prius Plug-in latest
Toyota has announced a pre-launch price reduction for the all-new Prius Plug-in, giving the technically advanced new plug-in hybrid a price tag that’s actually lower than the model it replaces. Hydrogen in the Golden State
Toyota and Shell are working in partnership on plans to establish a hydrogen refuelling network in California, a scheme that has been proposed for a $16 million award from the state’s energy commission. The initiative is set to bring hydrogen fuel pumps to seven filling stations in the region. Read more here.
Exceptional Aygo
The range-topping Aygo x-clusiv has been re-groomed for 2017, with new seat upholstery, a wider choice of exterior colours and new cabin trims. Read more here.
Camry takes top US reliability accolade
The Toyota Camry has been named the USA’s most dependable car in the 2017 JD Power US Vehicle Dependability Study. Its success is among 10 segment awards claimed by Toyota group models – more than half of those on offer.
Hilux Animal Ambulance
The Toyota Hilux has been proving a great asset for the Tiggywinkles wildlife hospital in Aylesbury, helping with the rescue of a wide variety of sick and injured animals, and their release back into their natural habitats. Read more here.
