Toyota Prius Named the UK’s Most Reliable Car, Yaris Takes Second Spot
Toyota models dominate the 2020 Honest John Satisfaction Index, revealed today. Prius takes top spot, named the UK’s most reliable car – repeating its success in the survey two years ago. The current generation Yaris is the second most highly rated model.
The results are further, real-world proof of the lasting quality of Toyota’s hybrid electric technology, the choice of ever-greater numbers of car buyers. The index ratings are rooted in real-world motoring, being calculated from the responses of more than 10,000 car owners.
Dan Powell, Honest John Managing Editor, said: “The Toyota Prius is the most reliable car on sale in the UK, according to the results in our index for 2020. It came out on top with a near-flawless 9.88 average rating out of 10. Combine that with its low running costs and refined hybrid powertrain and it’s easy to see why the Prius is such a popular car with drivers in the UK.”
Since the launch of the original model in 1997 in Japan, Prius has been Toyota’s global ambassador for its world-leading hybrid technology. The current, fourth generation model took efficiency and performance to new heights and was also the first model to be built on a Toyota New Global Architecture platform, achieving significant advances in ride, handling and driver rewards.
Yaris was the first small hatchback on the market to offer hybrid power. This year an all-new model will be introduced, with even greater all-electric, zero emission driving capabilities.
The Honest John website is a leading resource for news, views and reviews covering all aspects of consumer motoring. It asked readers to rate their cars for reliability, ride comfort, fuel economy, practicality and performance. Build quality, ease of use, safety and repair costs were also assessed.
Mark Roden, Toyota GB Operations Director, said: “The results of the Honest John Satisfaction Index are a huge vote of confidence in Toyota from the country’s car owners. We’re committed to making ever-better cars, and with the new Yaris we are aiming to raise standards even higher when it comes to hybrid performance and all-round, lasting quality.”
