Toyota RAV4 Helps Care Home Going In Winter
Getting about in heavy snow can be a real problem, as the staff at BEN’s, Birch Hill Residential Care Centre near Berwick upon Tweed in the North East know only too well.
However help was at hand for the automotive industry charity when Thomas Rosselle, Head of CSR and Environmental Affairs for Toyota GB, heard of this issue and came up with the perfect solution; a top of the range RAV4 which Toyota has supplied on a complimentary, long-term loan. The 2.2-litre D-4D XT-R grade RAV4 uses an Active Torque Control AWD system which automatically transfers torque between front and rear wheels for optimum performance in all conditions. Safety features such as ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Brake Assist, Traction Control, Vehicle Stability Control + and Integrated Active Drive System provide added reassurance.
Ben’s Chief Executive, David Main said, “When the weather closes in on this neck of the woods, it really closes in and the surrounding country roads can become almost impassable. In the past, we have had to beg or borrow and steal alternative transport wherever we could. Toyota’s generosity in providing us with this superb 4-wheel drive vehicle means that we will never again have to worry about getting staff in and out, keeping our residents mobile if they need to get to appointments, and generally keeping Birch Hill moving.”
Rosselle travelled to Birch Hill last week to hand over the vehicle. While there he took the opportunity to see for himself some of the work that BEN does and joined the residents for a Christmas lunch. He said, “The day was a demonstration of the importance and the quality of the service provided by BEN and its passionate workforce. It was a pleasure to spend the day with them. We are just delighted that Toyota has been able to help them in this way.”
