Toyota releases new film, Pidge vs Pigeon in which Glenn McGrath’s Ashes forecast is challenged by feathered rival

19 November 2025

A new film from Toyota, Pidge vs. Pigeon takes flight today, featuring legendary Australian fast bowler Glenn ‘Pidge’ McGrath in a face-off against the ultimate rival – a British pigeon.  The short film is released ahead of the highly anticipated Ashes Cricket series, which starts this Friday (21 November) in Perth, Australia.

In the build-up to the competition, McGrath, a six-time Ashes winner, made his usual emphatic prediction of a 5-0 series win for Australia. That’s now been challenged by the pigeon, introduced as an “outfield specialist”, in its own forecast from Worcestershire County Cricket Ground, McGrath’s former English club.

The prediction takes place on a pitch setup with distinct sections for England and Australia. The pigeon is released to select the winner for each of the Test matches by landing on the area for its predicted team.

While McGrath maintains his 5-0 prediction, the pigeon delivers a dramatic verdict that sees the Ashes going to England with a 3-2 victory.

This humorous showdown celebrates the fierce rivalry between the two nations, supported by Toyota’s position as both Principal Partner of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Partner of Cricket Australia – of which Glenn McGrath has been a long-term Brand Ambassador.
