Toyota stars shine at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
Toyota brought pace, sound and spectacle to the Goodwood Festival of Speed with stars and cars from Toyota Gazoo Racing’s World Rally Championship and World Rally-Raid Championships.
The top-level WRC driving talent included current championship leader Elfyn Evans, youngest ever champion Kalle Rovanperä, Japanese rising star Takamoto Katsuta and newcomer Sami Pajari. They put the GR Yaris Rally1 – the dominant model in this year’s championship with six victories so far – and the GR Yaris Rally2 from WRC’s second tier through their paces. Seth Quintero, the young trailblazer in W2RC was also present, taking the wheel of the mighty GR DKR Hilux Evo.
Through Toyota Gazoo Racing’s engagement in motorsport, Toyota gains technology development, skills and insights that it applies to building ever-better cars for the road. The festival demonstrated this philosophy in action in the form of the GR Yaris Aero Performance, equipped with an aero package customers will be able to specify for their car.
Toyota also showcased its new liquid hydrogen-fuelled GR LH2 Racing Concept. Based on TGR’s current GR010 Hybrid Hypercar, this concept demonstrates how Toyota’s multi-pathway technology strategy for reducing carbon emissions is being applied to its motorsports machinery as well its road-going vehicles.
