Toyota’s Sophie Ogunbiyi honoured in the Inspiring Automotive Women Awards 2024
Sophie Ogunbiyi has today been named a winner in the Inspiring Automotive Women Awards 2024, presented by the Automotive 30% Club.
Ogunbiyi, an external affairs manager at Toyota Motor Europe’s London office, has been recognised for her wide-ranging work in diversity, equity and inclusion and the great personal effort she invests in a wide range of initiatives, from formal committee memberships to creating awareness opportunities, designing and hosting workshops and providing individual, one-to-one support.
Announcing the award today, Julia Muir, Automotive 30% Club founder, said: “Sophie Ogunbiyi is going well above and beyond her day job to make a positive and lasting difference to the automotive industry. She is using her expertise in communications and her excellent collaboration skills to ensure people within Toyota and beyond are well informed about how to change the game to ensure women can thrive and succeed in the sector. I am very grateful to her for being such a strong advocate for the inclusion of women.”
Ogunbiyi commented: “While this award is personally rewarding, it is also motivating to know that the initiatives I have been involved in are having a positive impact and helping drive forward progress. I am a passionate advocate for women and have been inspired myself by the many talented people – men and women – whom I have had the privilege of working with. I am determined to play my part in developing an environment in which everyone can thrive and be their authentic self.”
The Automotive 30% Club brings together business leaders from the automotive sector to promote greater opportunities and representation for women at senior management level in the industry. The annual Inspiring Women in Automotive Awards celebrate women who help women to join, progress and remain in the sector. They recognise the critical role women can play in helping companies to build inclusive cultures, increase female representation and reap the benefits of a gender-balanced business.
