UK Perimeter Charity Drive In Toyota Prius For Cancer Research
With the help of Marshall Toyota, Peterborough, Tim Cox (28) a teacher from Parnwell Primary School, along with Dan Spence (24), a musical student from Peterborough Technical College will be attempting a drive around the perimeter of the UK to raise money for Cancer Research.
Marshall Toyota will be providing the recently launched Toyota Prius as well as fuel for the journey. The Prius is the world’s first and most successful hybrid power vehicle and the new generation model launches the ultra clean and efficient Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive. All this should mean that the fuel bill will be kept to a minimum.
“With research developing so quickly, funding is always desperately needed,” commented Tim Cox. “We’ve organised several fund raising events and I am really looking forward to the opportunity to drive the Prius. All donations will go to Cancer Research. We hope to raise over £1500 and are already on track to exceed this amount.”
The route the pair has planned is a total of 4,613 miles (excluding the two ferry crossings on the way). The charity drive starts on 3 April in Hunstanton, Norfolk after 10am. The Prius will be very recognisable with its Marshall Toyota livery, and Tim and Dan welcome donations before the start of the trip.
Their journey will take them southwards in a clockwise direction around the UK perimeter, where they will be collecting postcards from the resorts along the way. Both Tim and Dan will be camping for most of the trip and will be relying on food hampers donated by Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.
They expect to average a speed of 40mph for 10 hours a day and are allowing 14 days for the journey. The fundraising will of course continue throughout their trip through local advertising and daily contact. Anyone wishing to make a donation, can do this online at www.ukchallenge.co.uk or at one of the other fundraising events listed below.
