UK’s Leading Forecourt Maintenance Company Tops Up With Toyota Hiace
Marconi Commerce Systems Ltd, the UK’s leading supplier of forecourt dispensing equipment, service and installation to the retail and commercial petroleum industry, has taken a further delivery of 38 Toyota Hiace PowerVans and is changing its entire fleet to a mixture of GX long – and GS standard-wheelbase models. The company has a four-year/100,000 mile replacement policy through Kennings Leasehire.
Marconi’s Basildon-based UK operation distributes and supports its comprehensive range of fuel dispensers, pump controllers, point of sale systems, commercial fuel monitors and bunded tanks. This includes its recently launched, DTI-approved commercial fuel dispenser. The company employs some 330 service and installation engineers, supported by a national call centre.
Chosen for their reliability, smart looks and load capacity, the Toyotas have been “extremely well received,” says Marconi Vehicle Controller Terry Barker. “Our drivers are impressed by the low noise levels and driver comfort.”
The new Hiace are fitted with the Sortimo racking system to carry spares, tools and fuel-measuring equipment. “There is ample space for engineers to work from the van, and the tailgate provides protection from the weather,” commented Terry.
“The new PowerVans have earned an excellent reputation with all our light commercial customers, and we’re delighted that they are proving so effective with a company that really puts vehicles through their paces,” said Mark Hall, General Manager of Toyota Fleet.
