Yaris Best In Class In What Car? Security Test
Yaris supersedes all superminis in its class with unbeatable security in the sixth annual What Car? security test, which produces the UK’s only new car security league table.
Toyota was commended for massive improvements on Yaris since last year clearly impressing the experts with dead locks, optional alarm, marked parts, built-in stereo, secure spare tyre, locking wheelnuts and etched windows all acting as deterrents to car thieves.
What Car? praised Japanese manufacturers for leading the way in improving vehicle security particularly as traditionally security is a low priority in the domestic Japanese market. New Previa and Corolla also boast the enviable best in class commendment both passing the entry and drive away tests with Corolla gaining a good score for supplementary security items.
Ongoing efforts in vehicle protection by manufacturers such as Toyota has contributed to the 17% decrease in car theft since 1997, (recently announced in the latest Home Office figures).
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders highlights that the annual What Car? Security Supertest serves to raise awareness on this important issue. The Supertest uses guidelines recommended by the Government with the number of vehicles that satisfy the minimum Home Office security guidelines increasing each year.
