New Aygo x-cite: The Buzz on the Street
The new Aygo x-cite is the most colourful addition yet to Toyota’s range of lively three and five-door city cars, making a dazzling street statement with its Yellow Fizz paintwork and contrasting black roof and pillars.
Its distinctly waspish appearance is given even more impact by Aygo’s famous mix-and-match customised body elements. The front ‘X’, front pillar extensions, door mirror casings and rear bumper insert – are all finished in Bold Black and the 15-inch twin-spoke alloys are painted Glossy Black. Rear privacy glass is also part of the design package.
The cabin strikes the same contrasts, with a Yellow Fizz finish for the seat side bolsters, door panel inserts, air vent surrounds, gearshift knob and carpet mat edging. The instrument panel, centre console and gear lever surround all feature Bold Black Inserts and the interior doorhandles are chrome-finished.
The new x-cite comes as standard with the seven-inch, full-colour x-touch multimedia system, with DAB, MirrorLink for compatible mobile phone integration and a rear-view monitor to take the pain out of reversing into tight parking spots. Other features include six airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Bluetooth, air conditioning, driver’s seat height adjustment, split-folding rear seats, projector headlights with LED tracers, front fog lights and leather steering wheel and gear knob trim.
Power comes courtesy of Toyota’s characterful and efficient 1.0-litre VVT-i petrol engine, with a choice of five-speed manual gearbox or x-shift automated transmission. All versions are exempt from annual road tax (VED) thanks to CO2 emissions ratings of 95g/km for the manual and 97g/km for the x-shift version. In official testing, Aygo x-cite achieved combined cycle fuel consumption of 68.9mpg (manual) and 67.3mpg (x-shift).
The new Aygo x-cite will go on sale in the UK in July, prices will be announced nearer the on-sale date.
