UK Toyota Retailers Celebrate Top European Honour for Customer Service

17 May 2017

Three of Toyota’s UK retailers have been named among the best in Europe, receiving Ichiban awards from the manufacturer for their excellent performance in customer recommendations for its sales and after sales service.

The honours for RMB Toyota Northallerton, Burrows Toyota Barnsley and Oakmere Toyota Northwich confirm their premier status, included in just 45 businesses to be honoured from among more than 2,300 eligible Toyota retailers from 33 countries across Europe. For both Burrows and Oakmere it was a third success in the annual awards in four years.

Senior executives from the three businesses collected their trophies from Dr Johan van Zyl, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe, at a ceremony in Antwerp, Belgium, on Tuesday.

Robert Bennett, Managing Director, RMB Toyota Northallerton, said: “I am immensely proud to have received this most prestigious award for Toyota’s European retailers. First thanks must go to all our customers who choose RMB to deliver their motoring experience and for recommending us to other. Also, I must give a massive shout-out to our team, suppliers and business partners alike for making this fantastic achievement possible.”

Steve Davidson, General Manager of Burrows Toyota Barnsley, said: “This third award for us confirms our belief that a customer-focused team can deliver outstanding results. Doing a great job for the customer means that they have faith in our site and the work we do, and ensure that they continue to give us our business. This is a fantastic achievement for all the Burrows Toyota Barnsley team.”

Jonathan Jarratt, Managing Director of Oakmere Toyota Northwich, said: “We feel honoured and privileged to have won an Ichiban award again. Our ethos is to ensure that every customer is made to feel part of the Oakmere Toyota family and that we consistently deliver an exceptional level of service. We strive to make our customers feel truly valued and we are delighted that this has been recognised by Toyota with this prestigious award. The presentation means the world to our staff and to me personally, I am so very proud of the entire team.”

Dr van Zyl said the Ichiban awards reinforced the importance of Toyota’s core “customer first” philosophy. He said: “The Ichiban award winners have demonstrated how putting the customer first drives business success. Toyota wants to be number one in customer recommendation in every market in Europe. The most important goal is to be number one in the hearts and minds of our customers everywhere.”
