Double Awards Success for Toyota’s Self-Charging Hybrids

27 November 2018
  • Toyota is GreenFleet’s Fleet Manufacturer of the Year
  • Toyota Prius named Professional Driver magazine’s Private Hire Car of the Year

Toyota’s self-charging hybrid technology has helped seal two top fleet and business motoring awards.

The company’s range of self-charging hybrids has earned it the Manufacturer of the Year title in this year’s awards from website and magazine publisher GreenFleet, while Prius has been named Private Hire Car of the Year in the Professional Driver Car of the Year Awards.

Angela Pisanu, GreenFleet Editor, said: “Toyota has a truly green policy that runs through the entire DNA of the company, and it continues to push the ULEV (ultra-low emission vehicle) agenda forward, with almost every model now having a hybrid derivative.

“Toyota’s fleet customers enjoy low cost of ownership, low emissions and tax, as well as support from its dedicated Business Centre network. For these reasons, Toyota is the worthy winner of our Fleet Car Manufacturer of the Year Award.”

The Professional Driver Awards, now in their 10th year, are the most rigorous reader-judged awards in the UK automotive industry. There are seven categories and the Toyota Prius was among more than 60 cars evaluated by 120 Professional Driver readers in a two-day test event held in the summer.

Stuart Ferma, Toyota GB National Fleet Sales Manager, said: “The strength-in-depth of our unrivalled range of self-charging hybrids is offering business and fleet customers the ideal solution when it comes to making the right choice of environmentally efficient transport that’s budget-friendly and has an impressive track record for quality and hard-wearing reliability. From the Yaris supermini to the new Corolla and RAV4 Hybrids due for launch next year, we cover almost every business car requirement.

“Prius is the world’s original hybrid and continues to be a pathfinder for the best in new Toyota technology. It’s a clear sign of the model’s enduring reputation for all-round excellence that it meets the high demands placed on it by Britain’s private hire operators.”
