Toyota Hilux: Tougher, Safer and More Stylish

30 September 2019

The Toyota Hilux is the real thing when it comes to the no-nonsense toughness and reliability needed to get the job done, no matter what the conditions. That’s why the latest series of updates for the world-beating pick-up tackle everyday practicality and safety, as well as style.

Plush carpet and upholstery aren’t going to last long when your Hilux is doing duty in the rough, so the entry-level Active Single and Extra Cab models now come with easy-care PVC seats and flooring.

Regardless of Hilux’s role – workhorse, leisure machine or go-anywhere adventure vehicle, safety is a top priority. That’s backed up by the latest generation Toyota Safety Sense being made available across the range – standard on Icon, Invincible and Invincible X and an option on Active grade. This newly equips Hilux with Adaptive Cruise Control and a Pre-Collision System that can recognise pedestrians in the road ahead by day and night, and cyclists during daylight driving, in addition to Lane Departure Warning and Road Sign Assist.

To boost fuel economy and cut exhaust emissions, Hilux’s muscular 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine has been fitted with an eco stop-start system, featured on Icon grade and above.

For the Hilux Invincible X at the top of the range, the focus is on a commanding presence, with new smoked chrome detailing on the upper front grille surround, fog light bezels, door and tailgate handles, door mirror casings, front and rear under-runs and rear bumper corners. The side bars are finished in black and the exterior look is complete by a set of 18-inch alloys with a two-tone machined finish. In the cab there are new piano black inserts on the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel and gear shift.

There’s more customer choice in the Invincible X Double Cab line-up with the re-introduction of the manual transmission option. All Hilux have all-wheel drive capability and according to model it can be specified with 3.2 or 3.5-tonne braked trailer towing capacity.

The new Toyota Hilux is on sale now, with commercial vehicle on-the-road prices from £20,424 for the Active Single Cab AWD.
