Safe Drive Stay Alive show returns to Dorking
Toyota (GB) is proud to support Safe Drive Stay Alive, an educational show coordinated by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. Performances will take place at Dorking Halls from 1 – 11 November.
The production aims to educate thousands of Surrey youngsters about safe driving and has been performed for 190,000 16 to 19-year-olds since its inception in 2005. This year, 70 different schools, colleges, youth groups and army bases from across the county will be attending the show, which is having its first live audience performances in three years. Coronavirus restrictions meant the event had to be staged online in 2020 and 2021.
The Safe Drive Stay Alive free performances target young learner and novice drivers. They are designed to make them aware of their responsibilities both as road users and as vehicle passengers, and the potentially devastating consequences if they don’t take these seriously. The ultimate aim is to positively influence attitudes to driving and to reduce the number of road traffic collisions involving young people and the number of deaths and injuries among this at-risk driver group.
The production consists of a series of emotionally engaging films featuring people recalling true stories and real-life consequences of road traffic accidents. Emergency services personnel and members of the public who have been affected by a road death speak about their own experiences.
Toyota GB’s support for the production aligns with its global ambition of zero road accidents. Working towards this goal includes not just the adoption and continuous improvement of advanced technologies to support drivers and make cars safer, but also supporting learning opportunities to help people to recognise and understand the risks when they are at the wheel.

The show is supported by organisations including the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner for Surrey, Surrey RoadSafe, Toyota (GB), esure and Sheilas’ Wheels, Ringway, Surrey Educational Trust (SCC), together with the High Sheriff of Surrey, the Safer Guildford Partnership and Safer Surrey Heath. Additional funding is provided by a large number of town and parish councils across Surrey. This funding allows the event to be provided free of charge and covers venue hire and transportation costs for attendees.
