Toyota protection package clinches Best Small Van title for Proace City in the 2023 Parkers Awards
The Toyota Proace City has been named Best Small Van in the 2023 Parkers Awards, taking the honour against stiff competition thanks to an “unbeatable” warranty of up to 10 years and the support of an “industry-leading” dealer network.
Although a close relation to a number of models from other manufacturers, the Proace City has regularly impressed independent judges with its best-in-the-business cover package, a benefit that’s common to every model in the Toyota Professional LCV range, as well as the brand’s entire passenger vehicle line-up.
The Parkers team appreciated this as an aspect of the vehicle that makes a real-world difference to owners’ operating costs, combined with the day-to-day usefulness of a 1,000kg payload on every version.
Bestowing the award on the Proace City, Tom Webster, Parkers Vans and Pickup Editor, said: “(the warranty) is the sort of thing that could make a real-world difference to how much a van costs to run during its lifetime and a compelling reason for our continued championing of the Proace City.”
Proace City is available with a choice of battery electric and diesel powertrains and two body lengths. With respective load volumes of 3.3 and 3.9m3, both model sizes can accommodate two Europallets, while the optional Smart Cargo system can increase the space available by an extra 0.4m3, allowing longer items such as pipes and ladders to be carried.
As referred to above, Proace City is eligible for Toyota warranty protection for up to 10 years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first). This comprises an initial three-year manufacturer warranty, followed by up to a further seven years of service-activated warranty.
For the first three years of the van’s life, owners can have it serviced at a place of their choice. When the new car warranty period expires, they can then benefit from an additional 12 months (or 10,000 miles) warranty when they have their vehicle serviced at a qualifying Toyota workshop, in line with its service schedule.
